Dr. Paula Smith, Associate Professor, a developmental psychologist whose scholarly focus involves crafting a collaborative framework for working with teachers and school leaders to develop a positive school climate for youth, has graciously agreed to serve as interim associate vice president for equity and diversity for the coming academic year.
Nicole Robinson, who was serving as co-associate vice president for equity and diversity, has requested a personal leave of absence, beginning Sept. 1, 2018.
Smith joins Kathryn Bond Stockton in leading the Office for Equity and Diversity.
Dr. Laurence Parker is one of the new Associate Deans in the Honors College. His main area of teaching and research are in leadership & social justice (K-12 & Higher Education) and critical race theory and education policy and leadership. He has also worked with colleagues on campus to secure Eccles Foundation funding to support the African American Doctoral Initiative. At the U of U undergraduate level he has taught classes on critical race theory for the Honors College and a year-long seminar on student leadership & community engagement for first generation diversity students for Undergraduate Studies.
